Mission, Vision, and Background

Mission

The Arbor Good Neighbor House (AGNH) exists to connect neighbors and provide common ground for community interaction.

Vision

We do this to foster a sense of belonging, to facilitate the collective pursuit of community-initiated goals, and to help everyone in the neighborhood become better neighbors. 

Background

Arbor Good Neighbor House is the result of a decision by members of Arbor Covenant Church to transition congregational assets into a community resource to serve the Leopold Elementary School area.  In 2023 Arbor sold the property to Common Wealth Development for eventual use as a site for 40 to 60 units of affordable housing and associated resident services.  As part of the agreement the building is leased back to the Arbor Good Neighbor House, a non-religious entity. 

The intent is to pursue the good of the neighborhood together, alongside a widening circle of neighbors in South Madison. 

AGNH is solely staffed by volunteers.
