The Arbor Good Neighbor House Mission:

The Arbor Good Neighbor House (AGNH), a non-profit organization, exists to connect neighbors and provide common ground for community interaction.

AGNH is a welcome space where neighbors can gather to create a supportive community to foster a sense of belonging, facilitate the collective pursuit of community-initiated goals and to help everyone in the community become better neighbors.

Arbor Good Neighbor House is 100% volunteer run.

Repair Café

Volunteers at the Arbor Good Neighbor House would like to try to repair your broken stuff! Items they’ll do their best to fix include; small pieces of furniture, electrical and IT equipment, small appliances, torn clothing, toys and bicycles.

The Repair Cafe at AGNH is part of the Repair Café movement….a global, neighborhood-based initiative promoting repair as an alternative to tossing things out. Repair Café events provides community members the opportunity to bring things that are broken or not working correctly to a community gathering where handy volunteers with repair expertise do their best to fix what can be fixed…saving neighbors (like you!) replacement costs and keeping still usable things out of landfills.

Arbor Good Neighbor House has made a commitment to a better future for the Arbor/Leopold Neighborhood and the greater Madison community by providing a place that inspires, empowers and connects people through collaboration and cultivation.

Collaborating

The Good Neighbors Personal Essentials Pantry (GNPEP)

Since 2013, AGNH has partnered with two other local nonprofits to house and staff the Good Neighbors Personal Essentials Pantry (GNPEP). Laundry detergent, diapers, menstruation care, toilet paper and personal care items are distributed to local families facing challenging times.

In 2023 GNPEP had a total of 1,966 household visits, an average of 31 visits per week, a 40% increase over 2022.

In 2023, GNPEP served 584 households from 31 different zip codes.

Each year since these numbers have increased.

Creek Day School

Creek Day School has been located at AGNH for almost 50 years and serves children ages 18 months to 8-years. 25-40% of the children served each year come from low-income households.

Arbor Community Garden

For over 21 years, AGNH has maintained a Community Garden for our diverse neighborhood to grow food and meet their neighbors.

Local Groups

AGNH collaborates with local groups to support the self-determined needs of the area. This includes neighborhood associations, other non-profits, business groups, young adult gatherings, service agencies and providers of educational programs as well as the refugee community and other specific groups.

Cultivating

AGNH is committed to finding new ways to foster a sense of belonging to a neighborhood and community enriched by every individual and group present.

AGNH offers meeting space for neighbors to create an environment for sharing ideas, talents, resources, educational and social opportunities and community events.
